Hertfordshire: Guest En-Suite
Cream and brown marble-effect porcelain tiling across the guest en-suite of a Hertfordshire property, with waterproofing, walk-in shower with custom tiled shelves, recessed storage and mitred corners throughout
A Different Palette, The Same Standard
The guest en-suite at this Hertfordshire property is tiled in a cream and brown marble-effect porcelain at 1220 x 600mm. The tile has a subtle two-tone movement across its surface that shifts between warm cream and deeper brown tones, which gives the walls depth without the need for multiple tile types. The toilet wall is finished in a ribbed tile that adds texture and separates that zone visually. The walk-in shower includes a niche with custom shelves made from the same tiles.
Before any tiling began, waterproofing was carried out throughout the room as part of our scope. A recessed storage cabinet was tiled above the toilet, set flush within the wall tile layout so it reads as part of the wall rather than an addition to it.
Waterproof First, Then Set Out for Every Detail
All corners throughout the guest en-suite were mitred. The shower niche with custom tiled shelves was set out so the tile pattern continues from the surrounding wall into the niche without breaking. The recessed storage cabinet above the toilet was tiled to sit flush within the wall layout. The ribbed tile on the toilet wall adds texture to that zone while the marble-effect porcelain runs through the rest of the room.
This is the fourth room Tile in Progress completed at this property across a single project. The cloakroom, the main en-suite and the family bathroom are documented separately. Each room has its own tile palette and its own character, but the approach across all four was consistent. The waterproofing was done correctly, the setting out was planned before tiling began, and the details
mitred corners, illuminated niches, flush-fitted panels
were executed to the same standard in every room. That consistency across four different spaces in one house is what makes a project like this work.
The fourth room in the same Hertfordshire house. A different palette from the other three, and the same level of care throughout.
